HOW IT WORKS

Reflective when reflection helps.
Practical when action helps.

Our work together is collaborative, flexible, and tailored to your unique life and relationships. I draw from REBT principles, ontological coaching, previous counseling experience, and practical consulting to support meaningful, lasting change.

Alongside coaching, practical guidance can be helpful. Consulting offers tools, framework and communication strategies to address real-life challenges and create momentum. This might include support with specific relationship dynamics, navigating difficult conversations, strengthening boundaries, or making decisions.

I’ll bring curiosity, compassion, and practical thinking to what matters most to you at a pace that fits your goals and your life.

What the Process May Involve

Each person and situation is different, but the work often includes these elements.

Explore your interpretations, expectations, and recurring responses.

Expand the Available Choices

Consider new perspectives and more flexible responses.

Turn Insight Into Action

Apply what you’re learning through communication, boundaries, decisions, and practical next steps.

A Closer Look:
How Coaching-Consulting Works

There is no single formula I use with every person or every situation.

The work is collaborative and responsive to what you bring into the room.

My approach is informed primarily by Rational Emotive Behavior principles, Ontological Coaching, my previous counseling experience, and continued study of human behavior, communication, relationships, and personal development.

Clarify what is happening:

  • We begin by getting specific.

  • What happened?

  • What are you experiencing?

  • What do you want to be different?

  • What seems to keep getting in the way?

Clarity helps us separate the circumstance itself from the interpretations, assumptions, and patterns surrounding it.

Examine beliefs and patterns

We may explore the story you are telling yourself, expectations you are holding, conclusions you are drawing, and familiar ways of responding.

This is where my background in Rational Emotive Behavior work is particularly influential.

Rather than assuming circumstances directly create every emotional response, we examine the beliefs and interpretations that may be contributing to how you experience and respond to them.

Expand the available choices

Ontological Coaching adds another dimension by examining how language, emotions, the body, beliefs, and habitual ways of interpreting experience influence the possibilities we see.

Sometimes a person feels stuck partly because only one interpretation or response appears available.

Exploring additional perspectives does not mean pretending everything is fine or talking yourself into positive thinking.

It means creating enough flexibility to choose rather than simply react.

Turn insight into action

Understanding something differently matters most when it affects how you live.

Depending on the situation, that may involve:

  • having a conversation

  • setting or enforcing a boundary

  • making a decision

  • practicing a new response

  • changing a behavior

  • developing a skill

  • tolerating discomfort differently

  • creating an agreement

  • experimenting with another approach

  • taking a concrete next step

Where consulting fits

Sometimes reflection isn’t the only thing that is useful.

I may also offer education, observations, practical tools, communication strategies, frameworks, questions, or options for you to consider.

You remain responsible for deciding what fits your circumstances, values, and goals.

Coaching-consulting is not psychotherapy

Momentum LRC provides coaching-consulting services rather than psychotherapy, diagnosis, or mental health treatment.

My graduate education and previous counseling experience inform my work, but I am not practicing as a therapist or licensed mental health provider.

If what you are experiencing appears more appropriately addressed through psychotherapy, psychiatric care, crisis services, or another form of professional support, I may recommend that you pursue those services instead of, or sometimes alongside, coaching-consulting.

The overall aim

Our work is intended to help you:

  • see yourself and your circumstances more clearly

  • recognize beliefs and patterns influencing your experience

  • increase flexibility in how you interpret and respond

  • communicate more effectively

  • take greater responsibility for what is yours without assuming responsibility for what is not

  • make more deliberate choices

  • translate insight into meaningful action
